Intermediate Board Skills: Upwind
Riding downwind is a blast…except when you really want to go upwind! This course will help you avoid the “walk of shame” when you’ve gone downwind and can’t move back upwind except on land. For this one-on-one class, you and your instructor will stay in touch using helmet radios provided by WOW Kiteboarding. Your instructor will cover the fine points of staying and moving upwind, including:
- Getting and keeping enough speed for upwind movement
- Positioning your kite: a low kite position means more upwind power
- Effective use of sheeting
- Riding the edge: your edge is your rudder and you have to ride it hard
- Smooth transitions to keep your momentum, balance and edge
- Upright stance
