Advanced Kiteboarding Lessons

Wave Riding

Wave Riding

Surfing with a kite is an incredible deal: no paddling, no off-season, and ten times as many waves on a good day.  But wave riding is also incredibly dynamic and complex, and the waves themselves are not to be trifled with.  This is one area where expert instruction can save you from embarrassment, losing your gear, or worse.

Our instructors kiteboard and provide water patrol at major waves including Maverick’s, the largest wave on the American mainland.  These experienced professionals know what it takes to ride waves in style and security.  Your instructor will guide you to choice breaks where you can get the most out of one-on-one wave riding instruction.  WOW Kiteboarding provides helmet radios so you can receive verbal instruction in real-time, even as you catch your first waves.

Wave-riding skills covered in this class:

  • On-Water Etiquette and Right-Of-Way Rules
  • Respect the Lineup
  • Getting Into Position
  • Transitioning from Kite Power to Wave Power
  • Flying Your Kite “Down The Line”
  • Transitioning Back to Kite Power
